This is not the first time Barcelona have been on the receiving end of the league’s latest title-chasing attack.
Back in December of last year, the Catalans were knocked out of the Champions League in the first leg of the quarter-finals with a 2-0 loss to Sevilla.
Barça won the next two games and claimed the trophy in the third.
It’s the first Champions League title the Catalas have lost since their 2002 run.
Barcelona were also eliminated in the Copa del Rey quarter-final last season.
“This will be the first meeting between Barça and Sevilla,” Barça coach Luis Enrique told reporters.
“It will be a good one.”
“We’re happy, we’re feeling good.
This will be an unforgettable match.
The game will be played at the highest level.”
Sevilla are coming off a 2nd place finish in the league with four points from three games.
Last year, Sevilla finished fourth in La Liga, five points ahead of Barça.
In the first-leg tie on Saturday, Barça are on a four-game unbeaten run, scoring at least twice in every game they’ve played.
They’re also on a five-match winning streak in the competition, and have only lost once since January.
The Catalan side will be hoping to stay on track with their latest run against Barcelona.
Despite a record of six consecutive draws, Sevillas have not conceded a goal in the last three matches.
On Saturday, they’re hoping to put that run to the test.
Sergio Ramos scored twice in the 4-1 win over Barcelona in their previous encounter, while Neymar scored once.
