A new look at the world’s most beloved fitness trend

In his new book, “The Gym: A Journey to Fitness in Your Own Living Room,” fitness expert David R. Hall explains how he discovered the modern-day obsession with the gym and what it means to our modern lives. 

Hall is the author of the popular fitness blog “The Fit Guru,” which recently received a special edition of the paperback edition. 

In this new book he shares the story of how he found his passion for fitness and the motivation to share his knowledge to the world.

“In the early 2000s I was a little skeptical,” Hall said.

“I was just like, ‘Wow, there’s no way this is going to work.'”

“I’m a gym rat,” he continued.

“If I get into a gym, I’m going to go to that gym.

If I don’t, I’ll go somewhere else.

If the gym doesn’t have a fitness instructor, I don,t know what to do.”

But after meeting a man named Michael who lived on the same street as him, Hall began looking into the fitness industry.

Michael is the founder of a fitness studio in Seattle and Hall started training with him.

“Michael is like the first person I met who was in the fitness business, and he really inspired me,” Hall continued.

“He told me, ‘If I could only teach you something, what would it be?’

I said, ‘Well, I want to be a fitness coach.

I want the ability to train anyone.'”

Hall, a certified personal trainer, also shared the journey he had with a client, a man with autism. 

“I got him to come to my house and sit on the couch and I told him, ‘You’re going to learn the secret of life, Michael,'” Hall said, adding that he was amazed to see the man in his 30s who had autism struggle.

“This guy was going to lose everything,” Hall recalled.

“He’s like, `You’re just going to be like my son, Michael.'”

After meeting a client like Michael, Hall was hooked. 

The two became fast friends. 

As a result of the training, Hall became an instructor, working with many of the world, including, he said, the world leaders.

“The thing I’ve learned is that when you have a client in your life, it’s important to be open to new people and be willing to challenge them,” Hall told The Post. 

Despite being a fitness enthusiast, Hall had a problem.

“My body was starting to hurt,” Hall explained.

“And I didn’t want to just go on my couch, so I went into the gym.

I was training with more than 50 guys.””
